The Custom Jewellery Design Process in Four Easy Steps.
We’ll start with a complimentary consultation to talk about ideas while keeping in mind your budget, lifestyle and preferences. To prepare for this consultation you may want to collect any images you would like to use for inspiration, gather up any old jewellery you would like to re-use and have a think on what kind of metal and gemstones you prefer. I will follow up our consultation with a quote, often with multiple options. We will be collaborating together one-on-one to ensure that you are confident each step of the way.
Following our consultation if you decide that you would like to move forward I will require a deposit of 50% of the total (unless otherwise stated) to begin work. I will create either sketches, models or mock-ups of the preliminary design, often with multiple options. If I am sourcing gemstones for the design you will also have the opportunity to view a selection at this time and choose your favourite(s).
You select the design that speaks to you!
If a CAD model is being created then a technical layout and rendering will be emailed to you. If you would like a 3-dimensional view you can also come in and take a look at the prototype model in person. If CAD is not being used a wax model will be created by hand for you to see. Any necessary tweaking of small details can still be made at this point.
Once you approve the model production begins! Your design is cast in metal, finished and then your gemstones (if using) are expertly set. Depending on the complexity of the project it usually takes about 2-3 weeks for the project to be completed from this point. The average time for completion of a custom project from beginning to end is usually 4-8 weeks but if you have any dire time constraints just let me know and I will do my best to accommodate.
Your beautiful piece is ready! The outstanding balance will be settled at the time of pick up.
